WIP Wednesday #2

I'm linking up to Freshly Pieced's WIP Wednesday. So Head on over there to get inspiration from other crafters! (You can also use the button that is in my side bar ... again, this may be at the bottom of the page - anyone know how to fix that??)

So time to shamefully admit my ever growing list of new projects .... as soon as I start one - another one comes up!!!  So here it goes.

1. DWR Quilt-Along
Progress: Fabric selected, arc fabric cut out, 20/80 arcs sewn ....

As many of you know, this is an intense quilt with lots of small pieces with the added bonus of sewing curves!!

Luckily The Plaid Scottie is hosting a quilt-a-long to give encouragement, answer questions, and is providing very detailed directions with pictures!!  This will prob. be on the WIP list for a l.o.n.g. time, but I'm ok with that!

2. New Wave Quilt in Hope Valley by Denise Schmidt
Progress: Pieced and basted ... ready to hit the machine for quilting this week!!
This was intended to be a wedding present for my friend who got married in May 2011!!  Good thing you have a year to give a wedding present ... ?? right??

I have had a really difficult time getting this quilt done for so many different reasons - it ended up put away and in the WIP drawer for several months because it was so frustrating.  But this week I brought it back out and have had a lot of fun finishing it up.

Bonus: This quilt is BEGGING (is that possible?) for straight line quilting - so it shouldn't take that long, right?? Of course, I think it measures out to be a twin size bed quilt!! Ahh - how did it get so big?? Wish me luck!!

PS: More pictures to come once its quilted and gifted!

3. Black Sundress
Progress: minimal ...

I thought I'd try making a garment and I also wanted to practice making something w/a knit fabric.  The intention was to sew this dress and bring it with me to Italy .... but instead, it sits in my "WIP Drawer".  The fabric is washed and ready and the pattern pieces are cut out, too ....  At this point, I'm going to wait until the inspiration and motivation to work on this type of project hits me before I begin to work on it again ....

4. "Summer Quilt" ....
Progress: minimal ...

no progress to report... no picture to show.  This will be a Summer 2012 quilt .... hopefully ;-)

5. MY turn to host a fabric Bee - - Oct 2011
Progress: Fabric ordered and it has just arrived!!

I want to do a snow-themed quilt.  My goal is to make a test block in the next couple weeks ... Hopefully I'll have more to report in the very near future.

6. August Bee Blocks - it's the last day of August, so I guess I better get on those!
Progress: I received the fabric .... hopefully these come together quickly!!

ooo ... maybe that list wasn't so bad after all .... only 6 projects!  And one quilt that is almost done?? hmm - time to start a new project, {wink, wink}

PS: I should also mention, that I have big scrapbook plans as a present for a VIP in my life .... last scrapbook took 5 years (well, if I'm going to be honest with myself, I didn't really WORK on it for 5 years, hehe) ... this one will have to get done in 3.5 months!  Ready, set, go!

Sewing updates! =)

I feel like I've been cutting a lot and sewing a little . . . but here are some pictures of my most recent projects.  I'm linking up the Quiltstory - check out the button on my sidebar over there to the right!

1. Summer Quilt - - LOTS of cutting, not that much sewing - but hopefully soon!

I think I'm getting the hang of HST (half square triangles)

This a random assortment of fabric lines - - this is only a sneak peak - I'm keeping the final idea a secret - but let me just say - I think it will be awesome!

2. Sew-2-Speak's April block for April! =)
my first attempt @ applique!

3. New Wave Quilt - WIP - If you are Nicole - stop reading now!!

That's the hubby holding the quilt - keep in mind he is 6'5"
This is going to be a wedding present for my friend, Nicole.  She is getting married in 2 weeks ... and I'm pretty sure (~95% positive) she doesn't know about my blog - she loves to go on picnics and she appreciates homemade - and she doesn't have a picnic blanket.  So I thought this would be a perfect wedding present.  **If you want to make this - check out the tutorial from Oh Fransson here.  I used the suggested the fat cats ruler.

And that's what I've been working on in the sewing world.  Thanks for reading!

PS: here is a link up to the amazing quilt that Erin made from all of our blocks from the March 12 Month Quilting Bee - - I'm impressed w/not only how amazing the quilt turned out, but how fast she got this done!!!  Here is the post about my block.

Lots of Updates!!

It has been a craft-happy week! And now I have something to show y'all (and blog about!)...

Quilt 1:
Central Park Jelly Roll - by Kate Spain

I already had 2 charm packs of this fabric, but now that I have this this jelly roll I was finally able to dig in and get started on this quilt! (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE! this fabric??) Saturday I spent the day quilting away .... I took up the kitchen and the whole living room floor, ha!

Quilt 2: I've also made progress on the So Charming quilt ... I have about half of the black frames sewn. Once I finish them all I'll be sure to document my progress for y'all to see.

Quilt 3: And the quilt I'm probably most excited about at the moment (but, then again, I love them all!!!) my 3rd quilting WIP -- a precious baby quilt for a little girl due in July ... On top of being a project that should piece together quickly, it's made up of a beautiful soft colored palatte that will be fun to work with.

I bought the fabric from a quilt shop I found on my drive home from NJ this weekend. It was my first quilt shop experience. I was in awe!!! All these fabrics that I usually only see online were right there in front of me to touch and play with!! I ended up choosing some fabrics from the Sunkissed line by sweetwater. I'm so excited to make this. Here are the fabrics I chose.

I also added the green fabric at the top that I'm thinking will be a border fabric and the SO SUPER SOFT pink dot fabric for the backing.

They are calling for snow/sleet in Baltimore ... maybe I'll be lucky enough to not have school - and then I can quilt all day tomorrow! =) I can hope!!!
